Questions
What items do you buy?Â
We buy pre-loved clothing for infants and children up to size 8 and shoes up to children’s size 12. (Note, currently our inventory for infant sizes up through 24 months is rather full so we're more likely to accept items sized 2 years and up.)Â
Clothing must be in good, ready-to-wear condition. We cannot accept clothing that is damaged, stained, faded, pilling, missing buttons or has an odor. All clothing must include an intact inside label that includes the brand name, size, and care instructions. Shoes must be new or used with few scuffs.Â
We cannot accept:Â
- Underwear
- Bodysuits
- Jewelry
- Clothing with drawstrings in the hood or neck area or any other clothing with drawstrings that can be pulled out.
What brands do you accept?Â
We accept all brands, but we favor and are far more likely to buy clothing and shoes from brands known for quality and durability rather than fast fashion brands.Â
Why might you not buy an item?
We use our discretion to buy items that we think will sell in our community.Â
Reasons that we may not buy a given item include:
- Significant signs of wear or damage
- Item is isn't what our customers look to us for
- We have too many similar items in our inventory
Do you take clothing for all seasons?
Yes! We buy clothing for all seasons, all year round. Â
Do you buy and sell toys and gear?
Not at this time, but we expect to do so in the future.Â
How do I get my items to you?
There are two convenient options:Â
- Drop off at our workshop
No appointment necessary. The workshop is located at the Monroe Center for the Arts (720 Monroe Street, Suite E410, Hoboken, NJ 07030.Â
- Schedule pick up from your home
Click here to schedule pick up – free when selling 10+ items. Please note that pick ups are only available 10 AM – 2 PM on Fridays.Â
What happens after my items are dropped off?
We will take up to 1 week to evaluate your items’ condition, safety, and fit with our customers’ preferences. We will then email you an offer to buy the items that we think our customers will love. You can receive your pay-out via check or store credit.Â
How do you compare to consignment?
We buy all items outright, meaning that you will be paid as soon as the item is accepted which offers some big benefits compared to consignment.Â
While consignment pay-outs may be a bit higher than our pay-outs, the downside of consignment is that you must wait until the item sells to receive the pay-out, which can take weeks or even months. Further if an item on consignment doesn’t sell, you don’t receive any pay-out.Â
When you sell to Bounce Mkt, you get paid as soon as your item is accepted and there is no risk of not getting paid if an item doesn’t sell. Additionally, if you opt for a store credit, the pay-out is comparable to most of the consignment shops out there.
What do you do with clothes and shoes that aren’t accepted?
If we do not accept an item, you always have the option to take it back by either picking it up at our workshop within 10 days of receiving the offer or having the item shipped to you. If the item is shipped to you, you will be charged the cost of shipping.Â
If you do not want to take back the items, we will either donate them to a non-profit organization or, if they are in poor condition, send them to our clothing recycling partner on your behalf.
What is the condition of the pre-loved items you sell?
We maintain strict quality standards. Every item that we sell is in excellent condition with few, if any, visible signs of wear.Â
What measures do you take to ensure that items are in good condition and clean?Â
Every single product that Bounce Mkt sells passes our 3-step quality control process:Â
ConditionÂ
We evaluate items for wear and tear, only selling items in good condition with no damage and little to no signs of previous use.Â
Safety Â- We assess items for hazards, such as drawstrings in hoodies for young children. Any item deemed to pose a risk is discarded. Â
- All items are checked against the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s recall database.
Hygiene
All clothing items are professionally laundered or, if applicable, dry cleaned. [Note, items that have the original tags, and thus have never been properly worn, are not laundered/dry cleaned.]Â

What is your mission?
Bounce Mkt is on a mission to keep kids’ clothes out of the garbage and in the closets of families in our community.Â
The problem is that many parents don’t consider secondhand today; it is often seen as being inferior, cheap, and full of hassles.
That’s why we’re committed to change how people think about and interact with the secondhand market. We’re creating a new kind of secondhand experience that is effortless, trusted, and impactful. By showing parents that secondhand doesn’t need to be second-best, we convince parents to buy used, not new, for their kids.
What organizations do you collaborate with?
We’re currently working a number of organizations that are making a positive impact on our community:Â
- Round2Resources, a not-for-profit organization that links donations of any kind with the not-for-profit organizations or individuals that need them, as part of a commitment to keep all resources that can be reused or recycled out of landfills; and
- In Jesus’ Name Charities, a Hoboken-based inter-faith food and clothing pantry that serves our community's most vulnerable families.
In addition, to support responsible recycling for excess items not needed by local not-for-profit organizations, we’re collaborating with HELPSY, a for-profit B Corp with an environmental mission to radically change the way people think about clothing recycling.Â
How do you responsibly discard clothing that is not sold?
We work with a coalition of organizations to, first and foremost, distribute to local not-for-profit organizations that support vulnerable families close to home. When there are items that are not needed by local organizations, either because of excess donations or condition of the items, we collaborate with HELPSY, a for-profit B Corp clothing collection and recycling company that keeps clothes from entering the waste stream.Â
